Spring has Sprung

The road to Graniteville is clear and dry – although new snow expected tonight. There are patches of snow past the bridge that block the road so passenger cars may not make it. This photo was taken today showing daffodils already blooming! Will post again if snow that falls tonight changes anything.

New addition for GVFC

Congratulations to the Graniteville Volunteer Fire Company for their new water tender. This apparatus was donated as part of a federal program that finds good homes for excess equipment.  Thanks to Rob and Sam for finding it, and to Arrin and Bernie for driving it all the way back from Los Alamos, NM.  It’s going to be a great addition to the GVFC.

Chile Cook-off and Pie Baking!

Posted By on October 6, 2021

Please join us on Saturday, November 6 at 4 PM at the Graniteville Schoolhouse for a Potluck Dinner, Chili Cook-off, and Baked Pie Contest.  Blue ribbons will be awarded for the best chili and the best homemade baked pie, as determined by an impartial panel of distinguished judges.  The event is being sponsored by the Graniteville Volunteer Fire Company and will celebrate the end (fingers crossed) of the 2021 fire season.

CONTESTANTS AND ATTENDEES: please RSVP by responding below by the end of the day on Sunday, October 31, 2021.  Your RSVP should include the number in your party.  Please also tell us if you are a contestant for the chili cook-off, baked pie contest, or both.  You do not have to be a contestant to attend the dinner.

Potluck contributions, especially in the form of salads and side dishes are welcome.

May the best chili and baked pie win!
