4th of July Parade and Picnic on Sunday, July 3rd

Posted By on June 8, 2011

The annual  3rd or 4th of July Parade and Picnic will be happening this year on Sunday, July 3rd.  The parade will start at 11:30 followed by a picnic and fun for all.  Please plan to join in the parade or be a spectator and help support the Graniteville Volunteer Fire Company.  This is their only fund raiser and funds go toward equipping and training volunteers.

Not your typical Memorial Day

Posted By on June 1, 2011

This past Memorial Day was one of the coldest anyone could remember.  The road was open as far as Richard’s house, so there was no problem getting in.  Even though there was still snow,  some daffodils and tulips were blooming.  About 2:30 on Saturday, the snow started and it kept up for several hours. Sunday morning the town woke up to a Winter wonderland.  Needless to say, the annual work party to rake up the pine needles around the school house was postponed.    It was fun to see everyone after a long Winter.   Let’s hope the 4th of July is warmer!

Call for Graniteville Memorabilia

Posted By on May 27, 2011

Quoted from Mike Minahan’s GCSA Letter: The renovation of the school house has reached the point where in order to progress further, we must start bringing back artifacts so we can really show the workings of the one room school house.  If you have school house memorabilia at your other (non Gville) home:

1) Bring it up to Graniteville
2) Make an inventory and give it to a board member or email Mike Minahan (mikeminahan@hotmail.com)

If you have school house materials at your home in Graniteville:

1)  You can bring small items to the school house.
2) If you have large items, please send a list and/or digital pics before you bring them.

More information on this project will be available on the GCSA section of this site.

Memorial Day Work Day

Mike Minahan sent out a notice that there are plans to rake the school house this coming Memorial Day weekend so if we can find the needles under the snow, we will rake them!  Hope to see you there.

The road in….

Well, there is good news and there is bad news.  The road is clear but …………………. it’s going to be tough to park.
