It was with some sadness combined with some good memories of the town’s beloved patriarch, Richard Mehrkens, that we gathered as a community once again and cleaned up the school house of the little town that Richard loved so much. We lost him last Winter and we miss him. His mark on Graniteville will live on.

Another great Independence Day parade, picnic and Bluegrass at the school house. Thanks to one and all for your support of the Graniteville Volunteer Fire Departement – the raffle was a success and all the t-shirts sold out. Fun was had by all and we also especially thank the Shepherd Canyon Band for playing once again. The school house was rocking late into the night. Please send any pics you might have to janis1987@msn.com. Thanks everyone – see you next year!!
