of July Parade

The First Prize went to the Foss Family Marching Kazoo Band who
entertained the crowd with yet another new routine, featuring red, white and
blue banners on the participants. Trilby Parker choreographed the performance,
which included Grandparents, Parents and kids, plus our own Public Relations
Officer, Janis Bishop. The First Prize plaque featured the U.S. flag. The Foss
Family donated their prize money to the Volunteer Fire
Company.
The Wurst Prize went to an unusually popular and unpopular mechanized float from
the town of Washington. It represented a huge mobile couch, front and back,
peopled by a dozen men, women and children with a unique 'passable' steering
wheel. It will go on to the 'Burning Man' festival this Fall in the Nevada
desert. This group received a Wurst award plaque and a freshliverwurst. The
mentor of this effort is John Wineman.
The Children's award was a trophy in patriotic colors topped by our flag. It was
won by Kelsey and Kyle Vanderschoot, whose decorated bicycles and patriotic
costumes led the parade, anxiously coached by their Mother, Lori, from the
sidelines.
The day was beautiful, the mountain air sweet, the food ample and tasty, the
raffle productive and the parade fun. Does it get any better?
