Graniteville 2002 Annual 6th of July Parade Thanks to everyone who made this year's rummage sale, picnic and parade a big success - all proceeds going to the Graniteville Fire Company #46. Thank you to the good people of Graniteville who appeared with the salads and desserts and made the lunch such a success. Their generosity, and the help of the GVFC volunteers who work the picnic make the day! A special thanks to Charlie Abernathybettis who donated a poster for the Raffle (see picture of Charlie and poster below). Charlie owns two companies in Nevada City, Maverick Designs and Sierra Fine Arts. They created this digital image from nine separate scenes of "ground zero" in New York in a collage. The copy we raffled was signed by several of the heroes of the World Trade Towers disaster. We have for sale several smaller copies of the poster, without signatures, size 12" x 16" for $20.00 each. This poster, when advertised in FIRE ENGINEERING magazine, raised over $80,000 in relief funds for the victims of 9-11 and the balance of the proceeds, about $25,000 was donated to r the Nevada County Law Enforcement and Fire Protection Council. Thanks Charlie! More more info contact gvfc46@yahoo.com. There were several other wonderful raffle prizes, all proceeds going toward Graniteville's own Fire Company #46.
