Graniteville, California

A historic mining town in the Sierra Nevada mountains

Not your typical Memorial Day

This past Memorial Day was one of the coldest anyone could remember.  The road was open as far as Richard’s house, so there was no problem getting in.  Even though there was still snow,  some daffodils and tulips were blooming.  About 2:30 on Saturday, the snow started and it kept up for several hours. Sunday morning the town woke up to a Winter wonderland.  Needless to say, the annual work party to rake up the pine needles around the school house was postponed.    It was fun to see everyone after a long Winter.   Let’s hope the 4th of July is warmer!

Great pictures. Are there any cabins or small homes for sale in town?

Not right now. They don’t come up for sale very often. We do have a fun parade over the 4th of July weekend so that’s a good time to visit.
